Anime Banzai

Each year, Utah Anime Promotions, a non-profit educational organization, sponsors the Anime Banzai convention in the Salt Lake City, Utah area. In 2010, the convention’s theme was Japanese rock music or “J-Rock.” Using pieces of artwork done by the Anime Banzai community for the annual Mascot Art Contest, I developed the 2010 convention’s campaign.

To help announce the coming of the convention, some outdoor vinyl banners were developed. Using the main pieces for the year's marketing, a pair of banners were designed, which were also used as the base for a set of web ad banners.

The culmination of the marketing items for a year is the convention's Program Book, containing all of the information about the guests, programming and event descriptions, convention maps, and the area around the convention center. I managed the creative direction, content creation, graphic style development, and layout design for the entire 40-page project.

This is the announcement ad that the convention ran in the local Salt Lake newspaper, City Weekly. I had to get as much information into the confined space as I could, while still maintaining the design concept.

One of the major events each year is the convention's Art Show, where convention attendees can display their artwork and compete for awards in a variety of artistic categories, as well as sell their artwork. This piece was created using artwork that was one of the winners of the annual Mascot Art Contest.
